Spring Break
Over the break, we decided to head up to Michigan to scout out some housing areas for our move in the fall. We caravanned with our friends Jared and Margi Chase and their daughter, Audrey. We found a lot of nice areas and a few nice places, but left without any surefire plans. We did decide that we wanted to live in Trenton, a little town just outside of Wyandotte, where Matt's hospital will be. It is a cute little town.....there is shopping nearby (closer than an hour and a half away), there are multiple restaurants, nice parks, and even an airport within a reasonable distance (closer than three hours). I think we will be happy in that area. Oh, and there are also great bars, we heard (the realtor we were with really drove that point home). Anyway, the trip to Wyandotte was supposed to take about 10 hours, but baby added a few more for us in stops and nursing. On the way back, we spent a few nights in Chicago and absolutely loved it. We visited the Hancock Observatory, went to the Shedd Aquarium, spent some time in Millenium Park, ate Chicago Pizza to our hearts content, wandered the streets and looked at skyscrapers, and even did a little shopping. There were a lot of cool shops around. A few of our favorites stores......Lego, Hershey's, Disney, Mac, Nike, Crate and Barrel, and so many more. You could shop for a solid month and probably not hit all of the stores. Matt's favorite thing was the Chicago pizza. They really know how to make it there. One slice of Chicago style pizza is enough to completely fill your stomache. It is so thick and so good. My favorite was the aquarium and the shopping. The dolphin show was really neat. I can't figure out how they learn to do all those tricks together. I also loved getting the chance to go out with Matt while Jared and Marggi watched Ammon We ate at the Cheesecake Factory and that same night visited the Hancock Observatory. I have never seen such an amazing view. We were a thousand feet up, overlooking all kinds of lit up buildings and sky scrapers. You could even see city lights from the shores of Indiana across Lake Michigan. It was beautiful. Everything seemed so small from up there. To make a long story short, Chicago is such a fun city to wander around in. We absolutely loved it.
