3 years and counting

Last Monday, April 27, we celebrated our 3rd Anniversary. That's right, we have been married for 3 wonderful years!! It has been the best and most exciting three years of my life. I have done more, traveled more, cried and laughed more, learned more, and loved more in the last three years then I have in my whole life.

We have lived in 3 different states
We have lived in three different homes
We have been on one amazing Alaskan cruise
We have made Two trips to Hawaii
We have made Three ER/hospital visits
We have made the cutest little boy ever

We had the best Anniversary yet. Matt was full of surprises all day long. My first surprise was this

Oh, Yeah, now I won't be lost anymore. I am the worst when it comes to directions, i just can't seem to figure out where I am without my mountains. My poor friends are always getting calls when I'm lost in scary Detroit to guide me back home safe and sound.  But now I can go wherever I want and I won't get lost:) I have been wanting one of these forever.

Then it was Matt's turn for his surprise and he got.....

I was so excited to give him this, it was the whole package, bag, clubs, gloves and socks. I don't think I have ever seen him so happy with a gift before. He has already gone 3 times this week so I think it was money well spent.

Then it was my turn again.  Matt planned a night out all to ourselves.  He asked the Chase family to watch Ammon.   Little did I know he was going to spend the night there:) We dropped Ammon off and then we went to dinner. We went to Portofino's.  It was so nice!   We sat outside by the river and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and the calmness of the water. I love summer just for this reason.

After dinner we went out to a movie and saw 17 again. It was such a strange feeling to go out all night and do whatever we wanted without worrying about having to get back home to Ammon.

After the movie we were off to the hotel. To be honest I had no idea why we were doing this. It's not like we are on our honeymoon.  It was past midnight and I couldn't figure out why we were going to spend money to go to some hotel.  I thought we were just going to go to sleep and wake up early to pick up Ammon and send Matt off to work at 8:00 in the morning.  Matt on the way was telling me that we were going to spend the night at super 8.  Again, why are we spending the night when we could sleep in our own beds.  I couldn't really tell if Matt was being serious or not about the super 8.  We were driving around in a area that wasn't very nice which usually means not the nice's hotels.  But then the area started to change, the yards and buildings started to get nicer and so did the streets. And then all of a sudden this appered..... the Dearborn Inn

It was beautiful. It looked like a castle from the outside and the inside was amazing.  My attitude and opinion changed about the whole hotel thing. I started to get excited about staying here.  To have somewhere nice and clean to stay with nothing to worry about was a wonderful feeling. We went to our room and I just couldn't wait to fall asleep and know that a baby wasn't going to wake me up in the morning.  Right before we went to bed Matt gave me my last surprise. He told me that he didn't have work in the morning and we could sleep in all morning and take it easy.  Jared and Margi were going to watch him all morning. Oh I was so excited about all of this. It was just what I needed especially after everything that happened over the last month.

Thank you so much honey for giving me the best Anniversary ever.  I love you!

A post just about Ammon

Ammon is now 15 months old and I feel like he deserves a post all to himself since so much has happened in his little life.

* Ammon is now walking!!!! It's taken him a little bit longer than some kids but he is doing it and LOVES it.
* He still loves dogs and gets so excited to see them.

* He loves to talk but not in public. He can say mama, dada, wawa (water), ball, dog, book, more, and a whole bunch of jibberish.
* he knows all of your face parts
* He loves to blow kisses and loves to give kisses on the mouth. I think this is my favorite one so far. He will just sit there and kiss you forever. If you try to move, he will move with you until he is done.
* He is still small for his age, I think he weighs 19 lbs so he is in the 5% for his age for weight. We are tying so hard to fatten him up but he is a very picky eater. So for you mothers who have the solution to fatten your children who won't eat, please let me know the secret.
* Ammon loves to go up and down the stairs and he is Fast! The other day he fell down from the top of the stairs to the bottom for the first time. That was the saddest thing ever. I didn't see it, but I heard it and it was horrible. He and his dad were climbing up the stairway together. When Matt reached the top he rounded the corner with Ammon right on his heels but then Ammon decided to turn around and go back down. Before Matt could get to him, he tumbled. Ammon screamed and cried and had his parents worried to death! Happily, 10 min later he was acting himself and playing as if nothing happened. He walked away with a few bumps and bruises. We are so lucky that nothing extreme happened to him.
* He loves music. Whenever he hears it he starts to sing. He can also lead music. He learned that from the chorister in church all by himself.
* He loves to help with laundry, except instead of folding it he unfolds it. Momma loves that!
* He loves to talk on the phone to grandparents and mostly to dada when he calls.
* He loves bath time and hates it when he has to get out.
* He loves to help clean the house. He will find our hand vacuum and will go all around the house pretending to vacuum.
* He loves to do high pitch screams, which drives me crazy after 5 mins but I can't get him to stop.
* We recently discovered that he has a little 'security blanket' It's one of his stuffed dogs. It is so cute! Before and after he goes to bed and wakes up he always wants it. Once he gets it he just hugs it and holds on tight.
* He is amazing at throwing balls, at least I think he is. He can throw them pretty far.
* He wants to be independent right now. Some times it drives us crazy, but then again it is so cute to see his little personality.
* He loves to blow. If he finds any cotton balls or dust bunnies he will sit there forever blowing on them and watching them move. He also loves to blow on the window and see it fog up. It's so fun to see him figure things out.

* Ammon is just like his mom when it comes to cake batter and cookie dough, He loves to eat it.

Valentines Weekend

What a wonderful Valentine's weekend.  Matt surprised me by taking me to the Detroit Symphony and Orchestra.  The theme was "The Magical Mystery Tour" featuring a group of four that looked like, sounded like, and acted like the Beatles.  They sang a ton of the Beatles' most famous songs, and some of their less well known ones, too.  Having a rock band supported by a symphony in the background is really incredible.  Matt and I both absolutely loved the whole show.  They even did an encore with "Hey Jude" and "Twist and Shout."  The whole place was on their feet, twisting and shouting, including us!!  What a wonderful Valentine from my man!!  We had so much fun!!!! Before V-day I told Matt that all I wanted from him is some cinnamon bears and some chocolate.  For some reason I can never find cinnamon bears.  I have looked everywhere, here, and swear they don't exist in Michigan.  I have gone to so many stores trying to find them and haven't had any luck.  So I decided to hand the job over to Matt.   It only took him 7 different stores, and out of all of those stores he found them at a gas station, of all places.  They didn't even have them that day but said they would get them in the next day.  Oh he really loves me don't you think.  Most men would give up after the second store but not my hubby, he truly is amazing.  Well again my man has outdone himself.  Thanks baby love.

Utah again

After coming home for 3 weeks, we headed back to Utah for a weekend for Sam and Alison's sealing.  As much as we enjoyed it, all 3 of us were soooooo sick.  Who knew a cold could be that horrible.  We could bareley handle it.  It seems like whenever there is something special and important in Utah, we get sick for it.
It was such a beautiful event especial with their little girl Sadie.  I feel so bless to be able share this with them.

At one point, at Grandma and Grandpa Nelson's, I wasn't able to find Ammon anywhere.  I was a little worried and so I wondered around and I found him down stairs with his uncle Brad playing on the pool table.  Oh, it was so cute!!  Ammon was having the time of his life with all of those balls. I think he could of stayed down there all night long.

Thanks Brad, for playing with Ammon.  I think you are in first place in the favorite uncle runnings!  You other uncles better step it up a notch.

Better late then never

I have been in Utah for the past month and it went by way too fast.  Matt and I went there at  the last minute for Christmas and thought it would be fun to surprise my family.  It was soo hard to keep it a secret from them for almost a month.  I was doing everything possible not to spill the beans, avoiding phone calls, making up stories about what we were doing for Christmas, and pretending that I've been very, very busy! (which is so far fetched for me)  But in the end, it was all worth it.  We showed up at my parents house on Christmas morning and my mom couldn't stop screaming "I can't believe it!" and my dad was shocked.  This has been one of my favorite Christmases.  It was a short vacation for Matt, he left on the 28th to go back to work.  He had a surgery rotation and wasn't going to be home much, so we decided it would be better for me to stay and spend some time with my family. My sister Tiffany and her family were in town and Michelle and her family were there, too.  I was able to meet the newest additions to the family, Soren and Zetta Tolman.  They were born this past November and were the sweetest twins I've ever seen.

I love it when my sisters and I are together.  It doesn't happen very often.  All of my siblings live across the country.  There are only 2 out of 7 that live in Utah, so even if one of us comes home to visit mom and dad, we don't get to see everyone but at least some of us get to be together.

I was able to spend some time with my Nana while I was there. She is such an amazing woman. This past fall she was diagnosed with breast cancer and is now undergoing treatment. She has been through so much in her life and I look up to her so much.  I feel so lucky to have her in my life.

My sister-in-law Alison came in town from California with her little girl Sadie. It was so fun to see them. Ammon and Sadie are the only grandkids on the Nelson side of the family and are soo cute together.  If only they could be together more.

Before we went to Utah we had our own little Christmas.  I wanted to be able to start having some of our own christmas and our own traditions.  Matt got this dog for Ammon because he LOVES dogs.  Since I'm not too big on getting a dog, this works just perfectly.

Instead of having a nice traditional Christmas dinner, due to the fact that we were leaving in a couple of days to fly to Utah, we decided to go out to PF Changs with friends. I love that place.

Everything in one

There are several new posts, so don't stop scrolling!!! New Years resolution.... I will keep my blog updated.:)

Christmas Party

Some of our friends here in Michigan got together for a Christmas party. We had a lot of fun eating good food, playing games and enjoying each others company. I am so thankful to have such good friends here. I don't know what I would do without them.

I swear every time our family tries to get a picture taken all together, Ammon will never smile or look at the camera. It drives me crazy some times. Oh well I still love him to death.

I love this picture of Steve and Kasey and their kids. Their kids are always so smiley and happy.

We had our party over at the Chase residence. Thanks, Jared and Margi, for putting such a fun party together.

These are our friends Darren and Natalie and their cute little girl Kara. Natalie made the best chocolate cheese cake... oh, I was in heaven.

Our neighbors and friends, Israel and Rebecca, and their little boy Max made it to the party. They have another little girl, Quincy but she was having fun playing and dancing in the other room at the time.

Some of the cutest pictures of Ammon yet...

I think that these first two pictures are my favorite pictures of my little boy. It shows his cute little personality perfectly.

One second he's just fine and then...... it's the end of the world.

Ammon loves to look and play with the Christmas tree. It's so cute to watch him stand there and stare at the lights.

Visitors!!!

This last month we were lucky enough to have family come and see us. First we had Matt's parents come in the middle of November. We had so much fun with them. They love to spoil their first grandson.

Then we had my brother Brandon come and see us for a weekend in the beginning of December. If it wasn't for him, our little family wouldn't exist (He was our matchmaker).

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving this year with our good friends Jared and Margi Chase. It was a small and simple occasion, but it was so much fun. Thanks, you guys, for a fun Thanksgiving Day!

Ammon's first birthday

I can't believe my little boy is one year old. This past year has gone by so fast. It seems like yesterday when I was in the hospital meeting my sweet little angel. I have had so much fun with my little boy. He is my life, the reason I wake up every morning.
Here are some of the things that Ammon is up to at a year old.... He still loves dogs and says ruff and makes breathing noises like a dog all of the time. His new word is ball. He is obsessed with every kind of ball. That is why we decided to have a ball party for his birthday. It was so funny, I spent all day (kind of) making him a basketball cake for his birthday. When I put it down in front of him, he started to cry and put his body and hands as far from the cake as his high chair would allow. He wouldn't touch it. Luckily, we had back up cake that wasn't frosted!
Ammon has been making some great strides in his coordination. He can climb up the stairs, he can stand on his own, he can throw balls, and he can play the piano like a champ. He also has a toy train that he walks behind and pushes around like a shopping cart, redirecting it around obstacles. He should be walking on his own, soon. He loves when his daddy comes home from work. He gets so excited when he hears the front door open up and always crawls as fast as his chubby little legs will go to see him. Daddy spends a lot of time on the floor playing with Ammon when he isn't working. Ammon brings us so much joy in our lives.
